Social media has changed how people live their lives and work. It is used as a tool to connect with friends, colleagues and clients. Though how can you really make full use of the power of social media?
The beauty of social media is that you can be whoever you want to be. A lot of people have self-styled themselves as “Political Commentators” and “Media Personalities” without any credibility or qualifications, just merely an interest in politics and current affairs, with desire of the “fame” that comes from appearing on the TV and/or radio..
So how do they persuade production companies to allow them this platform? Simple, they are available at the drop of a hat to appear on TV or radio for interviews on their supposed specialist topics. Being readily available at the drop of a hat is worth its weight in gold to production companies.
How do they reach out to production companies? By reaching out to the production companies on various social media platforms with their blogspot articles airing their opinion on recent headlines. They have also been known to use “sockpuppets” to promote their “brand” to make their opinions appear more reliable and credible.
Many a freelance journalist has been born from savvy use of social media. Can other professions benefit from savvy use of social media platforms?
