Equally important as the budget itself was the tone in which the chancellor spoke about PSCs. He made it seem like those operating through their own company are somehow all tax dodgers and villains cheating both the system and small businesses. Of course nothing could be further from the truth. If contractors in the UK were to continue to be pressured, many of them will leave the country or dissolve their companies. This is not only going to have an impact on the treasury which continues to benefit from us, but also on the economy as a whole. The niche services which we provide and the speed and value at which we provide it is absolutely critical to the survival of many industries. This is either a case of the chancellor not getting it, which I doubt as he is a very smart guy, or most likely a major PR campaign to scare people away from self employment so big companies wont foot a bigger bill and to direct away from the real issues. It’s a tactic not a strategy.

?Really? I’m not so sure I’d be giving him an A* for ruining the country’s economy. Therefore I prefer to think of him more as a paralysed streak of p*ss

I think Osborne’s line is to trample on people who aspire to go up in life (aka ‘plebs’) and keep the old order of Ossy and his mates from Eaton (aka ‘upper class’) having exclusive access to 99% of the money in this country. No I’m not a labour voter, I just want a government that doesn’t punish small biz!

Does anybody know what the IPSE (PCG) is actually for these days?

Things are getting worse, not better, while they fiddle as Rome burns…..

I switched over to QAccounting a few months ago and haven't looked back. I get to speak to my own client manager and accountant, the prices were the best I had seen, and I paid exactly what it said online (no extra costs). Very happy with QA.
