Contractor Survey
With the general election on the 8th June resulting in a hung parliament and the ongoing instability of Brexit; political uncertainty looks set to continue.
PM Theresa May looks to join forces with the DUP – a Northern Ireland party known for their socially conservative values.
Whilst the DUP have not expressed a particular stance on self-employment, contractors have undergone changes to IR35 in the public sector, and tax hikes over the past year under the Conservative government, and so further reforms can be expected.
We’re interested in hearing your thoughts about what the new Government should be focusing on first for self-employed contractors…
What government…..?
I’d like there to be greater clarity for businesses hiring contractors as there seems to be a growing fear amongst businesses that they may be on the wrong side of IR35 if employing contractors. Obviously for legitimate contractors this is a huge disadvantage and paints us in the same light as disguised. Having lost the chance of a role today as the organisation was concerned therefore only takes people on in a temp basis I am concerned.
