HMRC is inviting small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to sign up to receive regular e-mails giving help and support.
The Revenue recognise that starting up and running a business is challenging and that taxpayers sometimes need assistance in understanding their tax affairs and on launching the new service said, “At a time when businesses need all the help they can get, HMRC is keen to do everything possible to ensure SMEs have the information they need to make their tax affairs as smooth as possible.”
This new service is aimed at SMEs, predominantly for those people who are new to business, either setting up or expanding.
The signing up process is simple and straightforward and the only information that HMRC require is a name, e-mail address and phone number. Once a business registers they will receive around six e-mails signposting a range of help, including videos, interactive tools, factsheets and online presentations or webinars.
Assistance is tailored to a level indicated by the taxpayer and their predicted cycle of tax obligations. The e-mail service will not, however, be able to provide answers to specific questions posed by companies.
Those wishing to enrol for the e-mail service can do so by going to the Help and support for businesses page.
