After a long day at the office, a lot of us enjoy crashing onto our sofa, lounging in front of the television and treating ourselves to a glass of wine or two.
But what are the most suitable wines for contractors? What is perfect for those who don’t claim to be aficionados but do want value for money without compromising on taste? Contractor Weekly investigates.
1. Jacob’s Creek Chardonnay, Australia
Available at most supermarkets, Jacob’s Creek’s wide array of wines rarely fail to hit the spot. Always reasonably priced and a proven favourite, the brand’s Chardonnay is one of its best sellers and comes from the Barrossa Valley, on the shores of the eponymous Jacob’s Creek, in South Australia.
2. Ogio Pinot Grigio, Italy
Pinot Grigio has recently become the world’s favourite and most drunk white wine according to statistics, and our personal favourite is the Italian wine Ogio. A fruity blend that’s both crisp and dry, each sip gives the drinker the best the Venezie region has to offer.
3. Lindemans Bin 50 Shiraz, Australia
Another beauty from Australia, Lindemans has made a name for itself in recent years as an inexpensive brand that produces consistently high quality wines. The Shiraz has a distinctly dark and fruity taste, and blackberries and tannins are used to add its distinctive flavour, all for usually for a very good price!
Blossom Hill Cabernet Sauvignon, USA
Made in the hills of California, Blossom Hill is another brand to have become widespread in recent times. Their red wines are particularly bountiful and the mix of strong aroma and subtle flavourings give this wine an especially interesting taste.
5. Palo Alto Shiraz Rose, Chile
And to finish on, our favourite Rose comes from Chile, a country that is quickly developing a reputation as a producer of high quality wines. A sweet and crisp wine, the Palo Alto Shiraz Rose has received rave reviews and, though perhaps not wholly suitable for this time of year, its summery flavour may take your mind back to warmer and sunnier times!
