The new Samsung Galaxy S6 release date is fast approaching so with only 3 days to go we have decided to take a look at what’s on offer. The S6 is coming in two variations, the normal Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge. The S6 Edge looks slightly different to the Galaxy S6, the Edge has a curved screen.
How does it look?
Looks wise it looks like your normal Galaxy with the usual features however the Edge has a curved screen which has gone from the norm. The bottom of the Galaxy looks like it has taken inspiration from the iPhone 6 with the speakers and headphone jack which is a very risky move on Samsung’s part.
Tech specs
The S6 comes with a 5.1” screen, which is the same size as the S5. It comes with 32GB (Standard Galaxy only), 64GB or 128GB of memory so plenty of room for videos, pictures and music. RAM is at 3GB, which is nice. It also has a 16MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.
Charging
Both the S6 models come with “Fast Charge” on the Samsung website, fast charge can give you up to four hours battery life from a 10 minute charge which is amazing. A great feature which has been a long time coming and which I think we will be seeing a lot more of is the Wireless charging. We have seen the new IKEA tables which have wireless charging points on them, well the S6 has the ability to be charged wirelessly.
How does Wireless charging work?
That is a very good question, well firstly let me Google that for you… Okay well Inductive charging which is the actual name of Wireless charging uses magnets, there are two coils. One of the coils is in the station, which is charging the device, and the other is in the device itself. The energy is transferred via an electromagnetic field, which is then taken by the coil in the device and converted, into an electrical current to charge the battery.
