A number of people have reported various problems with viewing and printing accounts in HMRC's free iXBRL online filing product.
These have been reported to HMRC by the Chartered Institute of Taxation and the Revenue has advised that a new version of the product will be released and available for download from 7a.m. on Tuesday 10th January 2012, which should remedy the issues.
The message that will appear on HMRC's service pages is to state the following:
- The HMRC online filing product is now available to download. The full view and print functionality will now work correctly on forms download from today.
- If you have downloaded the software since September 2011 but have not yet filed, you should download it again in order to have the full view and print functionality.
- If you have downloaded the software since September 2011 and have already filed, you will not now be able to view or print the whole return in one go. If you need to make a copy, please click on the “Print” button at the top of each page to print every page as you proceed through the form”. If those screen prints are not sufficient for your needs please contact Online Service Helpdesk.
Adobe X Software
Some using Adobe X software have also reported problems with opening the iXBRL online filing product, crashing their computer, and with difficulties with HMRC online VAT returns. HMRC believe that their latest versions of their package should be compatible with Adobe X.
Yes, I was caught by this when I submitted my company accounts earlier this month. You’d have thought HMRC could have put a warning next to the download icon on its website, but no such luck.. So far as I am concerned printing every page as you scroll through is not an option. I want to see the consolidated return that is generated at the end which goes to Companies House and to HMRC.
So I’d be interesetd to know whether anyone has contacted the Online Service Helpdesk with a similar request and what the outcome was.
