Google Maps Heads Indoors

Google has announced that for the first time, users of its Street View program will be able to ‘go inside’ certain businesses and see the interior of a building.

The new innovation has caused some controversy, however, as some claim that it is a breach of privacy.

Google has stated that the feature would be entirely voluntary and that only companies and businesses who wish to would be available to view interiorly.

This technology follows on from the initial Google project, which was the first to show the insides of buildings and was launched in February. This program allowed users to explore some of the best art galleries on the planet, and featured high resolution photographs of some of the most famous works of art.

Similar technology will be used in the new feature of Google maps, and it is hoped that companies and businesses will embrace the new program in order to show off their best qualities to their customers. Google has said that it will approach companies who are most frequently searched on its website at first in the hope that they will invite Google’s photographers to their businesses, but the plan is to extend it to as many companies as possible.

The technology will allow for 360 degree views of places such as restaurants, museums and bars, allowing users to take a sneak peek at locations they may wish to visit. The development has been praised by some for allowing companies to use a new form of advertisement, and with many businesses aiming to increase their online presence, it has been predicted that many will show an active interest.

Google maps has in recent times added a number of features to its program, and Contractor Weekly has previously reported on its most recent 3D feature on the streets of some of the biggest cities in the world, including London. If this new technology takes off the way Google hopes, the maps program will certainly continue to expand and be as well used as it is currently.

I switched over to QAccounting a few months ago and haven't looked back. I get to speak to my own client manager and accountant, the prices were the best I had seen, and I paid exactly what it said online (no extra costs). Very happy with QA.
