Alternative Secret Santa Presents

So, it’s that time of year again. A modern mainstay of Christmas festivities is the office Secret Santa. Taking part in this won’t make you a disguised employee, so you may as well get involved. Or just limit it to contractors only.

Forget socks, soap and golf balls. Here are our top 5 alternative Secret Santa presents.

5. Stuffed Animal

Nothing says ‘Merry Christmas’ better than a dead animal. eBay has a fantastic taxidermy range, where you can find creatures from all parts of the spectrum. Just imagine the recipient's face as they unwrap their beautiful festive squirrel.

It definitely won’t be creepy.

4. Personalised T-Shirt

Picture this: your colleague is handed their present. It’s soft. They start to unwrap it. What is it? Clearly an item of clothing. A nice cashmere scarf? Some fashionable slacks?

No, it’s a large, white t-shirt with their face on the front. Preferably a blown up passport or police file photo. What a wonderful moment.

3. Toilet Roll

Nobody likes purchasing toilet roll. It’s bulky, embarrassing and annoyingly expensive for thin bits of paper. So delight your colleague by giving them a bumper pack of Andrex.

2. Scrap Book

Produce a ‘This is Your Life’ style scrap book for your colleague. If you don’t know them that well, simply follow them for a week with a polaroid, and pick up bills and receipts from their bin.

It will be extra special if you include some of their hair.

1. A Short Story

As the old adage goes, ‘it’s the thought that counts’. What could be more thoughtful than a short story, with your colleague as the main protagonist?

For extra excitement make it a horror story involving people trying to get into their house. Also use a typewriter for that original feel. And photos of their house.

This article is hilarious! Was the ‘Short Story’ inspired by Stephen Kings Misery?

This article has given me some amazing ideas. I love the personalised t-shirt idea – I don’t think there would be anything more funny than someone unwrapping a huge picture of their own face and then being able to wear it!

    Love it!

What a brilliant article! Hilarious! Although the dead stuffed rodent would be a little creepy, haha!

I switched over to QAccounting a few months ago and haven't looked back. I get to speak to my own client manager and accountant, the prices were the best I had seen, and I paid exactly what it said online (no extra costs). Very happy with QA.
